Most of the books and other rmedia items listed on VistaBooks Encore are like new even though they may not have a recent publishing date. These are inventory hitems held on the VistaBooks publisher/distributor's shelves but never sold--such as small quantities that were left over when fllling a bookstor order.
If not new or like-new, condition is described.
Other books and media items include a range of conditons, ages, and scarcities, with some that are rare and therefore valuable. Conditon of these is described and special ones are also listed at Rare/Collectible, on VistaBooks Vintage. Some that are on eBay are so indicated.
Describing the conditon of special materials is an art and subject to interpretation. And therefore if an item is not as expected, please report same for an adjustment, return for exchange or credit, and/or refund.
Our aim is to find good homes for these items and we want you to be pleased with your selections.
Yes, it is an art to price a book that is out-of-print, rare, and/or collectible. Searches on specialized listings of such books often reveal a wide range of prices for the same printing of a book, often without all the information needed to compare otherwise similar copies. To complicate, a book that is listed as a single item may get sold and no longer be available for price comparisons. Thus it is likely that some of the prices we have established based on searches of a certain date are no longer valid, having gone up or down based on a variiety of factors. And valuations can change in the future, too, as they have in the past for some titles. Generally speaking, it can be astonishing to view current prices of some collectible items even we have on our shelves. So, if you feel our price for an item of interest to you is priced incorrectly, let us know (email vistabooks encore) and we will reevaluate compared to other available items. You are also invited to query for information on any aspect of a book.
Both buyer and seller are also challenged by the fact that most rare/collectible items offered are single copies and subject to being sold at any time.
Describing tne conditon of a book--and understanding the definitions, which are necessarily subjective--is another of difficult aspect to communicate. To help, there are semi-standard definitions used in the antiquarian book world. Our descriptions attempt to follow them. For our and your reference, guidance on this topic is provided here from the Abe Books website, noting that other dealers might have other interpretatons. A similar rating method is on the eBay websie.
